Be Blue Recap: South Dakota State

Drake returned to action on Tuesday night to face South Dakota State in Brookings. The Bulldogs were playing in their fourth road game of the young season. Despite several comeback attempts throughout the game, Drake would fall at Frost Arena, 87-73, and move to 2-3 on the year.

Below are the postgame notes from Drake's outing in South Dakota.

Postgame Notes

  • Drake handed out 18 assists on their 27 field goals made, an assisted shot rate of 66.7%. Drake's assisted shot rate currently sits at 73.8% on the season, second nationally per Her Hoop Stats. The Bulldogs are averaging 22.0 assists per game, a mark that also ranks second in the nation.

  • Six different players sank a three-pointer in Brookings. Drake has connected on a three-pointer in 324-straight games dating back to the 2010-2011 season.

  • Drake collected a season-high 11 steals at South Dakota State. As a team, Drake averages 8.6 steals per contest.

  • Drake swatted a season-high four blocks in Brookings.

  • Grace Berg scored a team-high 23 points at South Dakota State, pushing her scoring average to 19.0 points per game (leads Drake). Berg has scored 20-or-more points in three games. The Indianola, IA native also tied career-high's in rebounds (9) and assists (4), while setting a new career-high in steals (3).

  • Maddie Monahan scored 20 points in Brookings. Monahan has now scored in double-figures in 23 career games, including nine-straight, dating back to the 2019-20 season. The Silver Lake, MN native made her 101st-consecutive career start, and has dished out at least one assist in 98 career games.

  • Maggie Bair recorded her first career double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds). Bair's 10 rebounds were a new career-high, while her 10 points were a new season-high. The Glen Ellyn, IL native last scored in double-figures on November 30, 2019 when Drake played Maine at the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, FL.

  • Kierra Collier scored six points and dished out four assists. Collier continues to lead Drake in assists per game (6.2).

  • Allie Wooldridge made her third career start and grabbed five rebounds. Wooldridge has collected four-or-more rebounds in four games this season.

  • Maggie Negaard scored three-points, and has now drained a triple in three-straight games. Negaard also surpassed 200 career points.

  • Taylor McAulay scored a season-high five points.

  • Courtney Becker came away with two steals at South Dakota State (career-high).

  • Mya Mertz appeared in her third-straight game, and 65th overall.

  • Tuesday marked the fifth all-time meeting (third-straight) between Drake and South Dakota State. The Jackrabbits lead the series 3-2.

Drake will travel to the Lone Star State to play No. 22 Texas on Friday night. This will be the first meeting between the two programs since 1984.
