Bulldogs Fetch Peyton McCabe

Updated: Jun 30

Peyton McCabe did not hesitate. Just weeks before opening her sophomore season at Skutt Catholic High School in Omaha, Nebraska, McCabe said 'yes' to Drake. "I've committed to play basketball and attend Drake University!! Thank you to everyone who has and will continue to support me along the way!" McCabe wrote in her announcement on Instagram.

McCabe is the first verbal commit in the class of 2024 for head coach Allison Pohlman. The 5'4" guard is fresh off a thrilling summer in the AAU circuit. McCabe was a member of the U16 Nike Nationals Championship team with the All Iowa Attack.

As a freshman at Skutt Catholic, McCabe was named Class B All-State Honorable Mention. She helped guide the SkyHawks to the Quarterfinal Round of the Nebraska Class B Girls State Tournament and averaged 11.2 points per game, second amongst freshmen in the class. McCabe is currently listed at No. 6 in Prep Girls Hoops' 2024 Nebraska Rankings.

Basketball runs deep in the McCabe family. Peyton's older sister, Taylor, set numerous state scoring and shooting records at Fremont High School and will play at Iowa.

By the time she arrives in Des Moines, McCabe will bolster a strong backcourt featuring: Brooklin Dailey, Katie Dinnebier, Ava Hawthorne, Ashley Iiams, Hannah Nilges and Maggie Phipps.
